According to the Willimantic Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 1:45 a.m. at an apartment complex on Main Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite life-saving efforts from first responders and emergency medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that a confrontation took place inside the apartment between the victim and a suspect before the shooting occurred. Authorities say the suspect allegedly produced a handgun during the altercation, shot the victim, and fled the scene before police arrived.
