In the preceding book, we left off with Kamriyya stealing Iluru’s screen while Malukussaifi was asleep in his wife Nahidu’s room. She then returned to her house with him. Now, let’s explore the events following her return.

On that night, Kamriyya cleaned the screen, and as Iluru arrived, she promptly instructed him to fetch Malukussaifi and bring him to the city of Malam Afaladinu. Iluru obeyed the command. Meanwhile, Iluru, sensing the urgency, carried Malukussaifi, who had awakened abruptly, touched his son, and realized Iluru was carrying him. Perplexed, Malukussaifi inquired, “Iluru, where are you? Weren’t you supposed to take care of yourself? Who owns this screen that compelled you to bring me?” Iluru, irritated, responded, “O my leader, you underestimate my significance. You neglect my screen, endangering yourself. I am the only one capable of preventing the impending disaster. I know a solution that will return me to your service. Unfortunately, I’ve decided to sever ties with you, having endured enough suffering. Remember, I am no demon’s serpent; I am a king’s son like yourself. You cannot take my screen lightly and let others seize the opportunity to serve me. Head to Malam Afaladinu’s town, acquire a hat, and I will carry out her instructions as she ordered.”

Regretful after Iluru’s words, Malukussaifi exclaimed, “Iluru, if the heavens lift their curse upon these people, I will surely perish.” Eventually, they reached the town. Iluru followed instructions, noticing the people lining up with their trees, a signal to plant him. To avoid this fate, Iluru cut down a tree, hollowed it, placed Malukussaifi inside, and released it. He then visited Akisa’s house, informing her of the situation and urging her to rescue her brother.

Akisa, alarmed, rushed to the city, finding Malukussaifi’s tree almost touching the ground. Concerned, she thought he might be dead, but upon checking, she confirmed his heartbeat. In a state of confusion, she heard a twenty-verse song, praying for a remedy. Suddenly, a man on a winged chariot appeared, handing her three red pills. He instructed her to apply them to Malukussaifi’s eyes, ears, and body for his recovery. Gratefully, Akisa followed the instructions, and Malukussaifi soon regained consciousness. He thanked her and requested food.

As Akisa contemplated returning him to his city, Malukussaifi refused, fearing his mother’s plots. After a heated argument, Akisa swore he wouldn’t leave that day. Eventually, Malukussaifi agreed to stay for a few days. Akisa then went to gather news about his people.

Upon her return, Akisa informed Malukussaifi that Iluru did not take him to Afaladnu City as ordered by his mother. Instead, Iluru released two sorcerers from prison, and the town of King Saifu’aradu was calm, with people assured of God’s protection against Kamriyya’s malevolence.
