According to the Plant City Police Department, officers responded Saturday evening to reports of gunfire in the area of East Baker Street and Thonotosassa Road, where one victim was discovered injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity or condition as investigators continue gathering evidence connected to the shooting.
The latest incident comes just days after Plant City authorities launched a major homicide investigation involving the deaths of four members of the same family across two separate crime scenes. Investigators said a 4-month-old infant, a 4-year-old child, their 28-year-old mother, and the children’s 55-year-old grandmother were all fatally shot in what police described as a targeted act of violence.

Police said the deadly shootings unfolded at homes on West Tever Street and North Burton Street, with detectives later asking residents to review surveillance footage for possible evidence connected to the investigation. Authorities confirmed another child was found unharmed at one of the scenes.
In a separate case earlier this week, Plant City police also investigated another shooting near East Alabama Street and Lincoln Street, where one individual suffered injuries after reports of gunfire shortly before noon Friday.
