BRCC Lockdown – Students and staff at Baton Rouge Community College experienced a tense situation Wednesday afternoon when the school’s Mid-City campus in Baton Rouge was placed on lockdown after officials received a reported threat.
According to authorities, the incident began around 1:06 p.m., when police were notified about a potential threat involving the campus located on Florida Boulevard. In response, school officials initiated a precautionary lockdown while law enforcement investigated the situation.
During the lockdown, students and faculty were instructed to remain inside buildings and follow safety procedures while officers assessed the report. Emergency alerts were also sent to members of the campus community to inform them of the situation and advise them to shelter in place.
After police investigated the threat and determined there was no immediate danger, the lockdown was lifted at approximately 1:50 p.m., and normal campus activities resumed.
Officials have not yet released details about the nature of the threat or whether any suspects were identified. Authorities emphasized that the lockdown was implemented out of an abundance of caution to protect students and staff.
