Pueblo Shooting; 16-year-old Suspect Shot and Arrested After Alleged Assault, Carjacking

A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Monday morning after a series of violent crimes culminated in a shootout with a Pueblo Police officer.​

According to the Pueblo Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting and assault near Northern and Abriendo Avenues at approximately 12:16 a.m. Upon arrival, police identified a suspect vehicle matching the description provided. As officers approached, a passenger exited the vehicle and carjacked another vehicle at gunpoint, prompting a pursuit. The situation escalated when the suspect and a police officer exchanged gunfire during the chase. Both the officer and the suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. ​

The suspect, whose identity has not been released due to his age, was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and carjacking. The officer’s name has also not been disclosed, and their condition is reported to be stable.​

This incident marks a significant escalation in youth-related violence in the area. Authorities are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.​
